Film Screening: Graamam (Directed by Mohan Sharma)
Graamam (110 min, bilingual, Tamil & Malayalam) depicts the pre-Independence history of Tamilians who migrated to Palghat in Kerala and lived there from 1938 to 1947. In those days, child marriages were common. After one such marriage a small girl becomes a widow. Her grandmother also was widowed at the young age. Having been banished from society and ill-treated, the old widow fights hard to prevent this happening to her grand-daughter. How the old woman restores the girl's self-respect and helps her regain her position in society is the crux of the story.
